How EDM is shaping the fashion industry:
Bright lights, neon colors, and sharp color contrast isn’t only for music festivals anymore. The ever changing fashion industry is taking note of the growing EDM community. Bright differing colors are in, and boring old solids are out.
EDM is infiltrating popular culture, you now hear DJ’s on the radio, and see them on TV. Avicii, Skrillex, and Hardwell are common names you’ll hear on the daily. It was only a matter of time before you see this culture trickling into other markets such as fashion.
Some of the newer popular brands include -
Little Black Diamond:
Party with Sluts:
EDM has also taken a walk down the runway with stylish neon colors incorporated into both fall and spring fashion shows. Known designers such as Marco Marco are taking colorful, bright, and sharp stances in their new designs.
In latest fashion news, Solange (a.k.a. Beyonce’s sister) is about to launch a brand new shoe line in collaboration with Puma. The shoes are inspired by the colors of Brazil. If there is one known fact about Brazilians it’s that they enjoy a good party. The styles are sick, and definitely see ravers rocking these with their latest outfits. In fact, Frattoys.com already has a shirt to match the new kicks pretty well. I mean hey, I’d rock it.
While we are on the topic of dirty girls and dirty beats. I feel almost compelled to buy different color headphones to match every outfit. There are a few DJ’s that have their own inspired line of headphones. Sol Republic has collaborations with Anthem, Steve Aoki, Deadmau5, Tokidoki, and Calvin Harris.
Accessories have always played a large part in fashion. Bracelets to necklaces, leg warmers to headbands. There is always an accessory for every type of fashion and EDM is no different. Two of the hottest trends are flowers and headdresses. Girls can be found with flowers all over them, and rocking an indian headdress.
There are plenty of do’s and don’ts when it comes to fashion. Luckily in the EDM community they usually abide by the “anything goes” rule. However if you’re looking to stand out - bright colors, crazy accessories, and lots of contrast should get the job done.
